Capital Campaign
Diocese of Austin and St. Joseph Parish
Case For Support - (pdf)

Between 1990 and 2003 the Catholic population in the Diocese of Austin increased by almost 90%, compared with an overall population increase of 44%. In the next 25 years, it is estimated that the Catholic population of the Diocese of Austin will double again, to more than 800,000.  Based upon the positive results of a professional planning and feasibility study conducted in early 2005, the diocese is moving forward with a comprehensive campaign to transform our communities of faith and strengthen the Catholic presence and tradition throughout Central Texas. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the campaign is an important step in building a strong and vital Church for the future.

DIOCESAN CAMPAIGN NEEDS ~ $1,000,000
The Diocesan-wide Capital Campaign, called Our Faith ~ Our Legacy: Strengthening the Catholic Church of Central Texas,  is being conducted to raise $45 million to meet critical needs of our community in six main areas:

  • Seminarian Education and Formation
  • Priest Retirement
  • Religious and Catholic Education
  • Campus Ministry
  • Catholic Charities
  • CSA for 2006 There will not be a separate effort for the 2006 CSA; it will be included in the overall campaign.

All parishes of the diocese are participating in this campaign for 2006.  Each parish has a target established by the diocese and is payable over a five year period. St. Joseph Parish has a target for the diocesan campaign of $1,000,000.

ABOUT OUR PLAN … FAITH IN OUR FUTURE
In February 2006, St. Joseph embarked upon the Faith in Our Future campaign.  Combined with the Diocese of Austin’s Our Faith ~ Our Legacy campaign, St. Joseph seeks to meet the educational needs of families in the Bryan/ College Station community.  With over 700 students in our Religious Education Program on Wednesdays and Sundays and over 600 students currently enrolled in the school system, from 6 weeks of age through 12th grade, St. Joseph is in need of renovations and additions of its classroom space, cafeteria and auditorium/gym facilities. These new facilities will allow St. Joseph to continue to grow and provide Catholic Education for the families of our community. Listed below is a detailed project plan:

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ~ $1,700,000
  • Construction of Elementary School Cafeteria
  • Construction of New Entrance to the Elementary School   The new entrance to the elementary school will be enhanced by a circular drive which will ease traffic and parking for parents and teachers for both Religious Education Days and School Days.
  • Construction of Religious Education Office with meeting and training area for the RE Staff.
  • Construction of Kindergarten Classrooms
  • Construction of a Multi-Purpose Facility for in-school activities, competitions, concerts, and after school care.

MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL
~ $500,000
Renovation of High School Cafeteria / Gymnasium

OUT DOOR ATHLETIC COMPLEX ~ $300,000

TOTAL CAMPAIGN NEEDS ~ $3,500,000

St. Joseph’s campaign effort will be directed toward parishioners and non-parishioners (both parents and non-parents). The campaign will seek pledges over a three to five year period.  For more information, contact Shannon, campaign director, in the Campaign Office at 979-822-6641 x  51.  Thank you for your continued support.
