Hello Everyone! I have two big announcements! This week we will not have youth night because of the retreat this weekend. Have a great weekend and I will see you at our last youth night on April 29th!
Forming the high school youth of the St. Joseph Community by fostering their spiritual growth, supporting their families, and empowering them to live as Disciples of Jesus Christ.
ST JOSEPH'S YOUTH MINISTRY IS...
COMPREHENSIVE- Journey encompasses prayer, fellowship, service, religious formation, and spiritual growth. Journey includes not just regular youth nights, but a variety of retreats, camps, rallies, service projects, and other events to meet the needs of young people.
RELATIONAL- Healthy personal relationships are how the leaders of Journey communicate the love of Christ to each youth. Small group discussions are an essential component of Journey.
RELEVANT- Teen issues and where each youth is on his or her own personal faith path are key elements in determining the direction of each small group discussion.
SYSTEMATIC- Journey covers all of the major doctrines of faith, holding the primacy of Sacred Scripture and relying upon the Catechism, as well as the Bishop’s approved texts for high school youth.
WHAT GOES ON AT A YOUTH NIGHT? Each youth night begins with a short time to catch up with each other over a meal, but each night may differ. We have community nights, prayer nights, issue centered nights, and teaching night. Journey youth nights are divided into "tracks", based on where students are in their faith formation. We have preconfirmation 9th and 10th grade track and a post-Confirmation track for our 11th and 12th grade youth, which focuses on continuing discipleship.
WHEN AND WHERE? Youth nights are on Sundays from 6:30-8:30 pm in the St. Joseph Secondary Gym on 600 S Coulter Dr.
(Summer youth nights are from after the 5:30 pm mass to 8 pm)
WHO CAN COME? This is open to ALL students of high school age. It is a community where ALL are loved as they are and called to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.
